Just the one surprise in Round 5 of the Scottish cup, where the top-flight sides enter, but that's because half the matches were postponed. Amongst the casualties was Rangers' match at East Stirlingshire, adding to the side's fixture congestion. There are now no more free midweeks before the UEFA Cup starts to demand attention.

While it's the tight race at the top that's demanding most attention, note how the division splits into three races - a three-way battle for the top spot, seven sides pushing for fifth, and eight sides jockying to avoid two relegation spots. Only Liverpool and Derby look settled in place. Wigan's had an almost-inevitable revival this month, Portsmouth has reverted to its mean, but Bolton and Fulham must be looking worried.
