Sent to Coventry

League cup time in England and France (both Round 5), Scotland (Round 4), plus league programmes in Italy, Germany, and Spain. Here are the upsets.

52 Manchester Buccaneers B - Coventry (II) 0:2
47 Hamilton Academicals (II) - Kilmarnock 2:0
45 Birmingham Browns - Leicester (II) 0:1
43 Luton (III) - Charlton (II) 2:1
42 Bordeaux - Metz 1:2
38 West Bromwich (II) - Cardiff (II) 2:4
38 Hertha Berlin - Hansa Rostock 1:3
36 Sevilla - Espanyol 2:3
36 Palermo - AC Milan 2:1
36 Hibernian - Motherwell 2:4
32 Genoa - Udinese 3:2
32 Catania - Empoli 1:0
UPSET Strasbourg - Amiens (II) 0:1

We only interpolate values for lower league sides in England and Scotland; we suggest that Strasbourg's loss would rank in the mid-30s.

The big news, of course, the defeat for the Buccaneers' B-side against Coventry, certainly the biggest cup upset for the Midlands side since they played Sutton.

Yes, the defeats to Coventry and Manchester Buccaneers have left the Arsenal Libels on top of the League, with Liverpool close in fourth. Derby look doomed already, Wigan haven't much in them, but the rest are very close.

Bayern is looking indomitable this year, after a bit of a rubbish season last time saw them finish fourth. Schalke and Hertha were the early leaders, but defending champions Stuttgart have been as much down as up. Karlsruhr has got off to a good start, but the other promoted sides and Cotbus look doomed already.
