A good day for Scotland: the win over Lithuania put them above Italy and in a qualification spot, and top of the group for about five hours. It couldn't last, but the two top seeds cancelling each other out works in Scotland's favour. France hosts Scotland on Wednesday; a win will seal a place in Euro '08 for the new World Cup winners (the aggregate of the replay is France - Italy 3:1.) Italy travel to Ukraine.

Turkey will have to see a draw in Malta as a missed opportunity, while Norway picked up the three points but nothing more. The winners: Greece, who travel to Norway in pole position.

No match for Sweden next Wednesday, allowing Northern Ireland to return to the top with a win in Iceland. Spain hosts Latvia.
