Lax ends to the season from the top two, and Arsenal yielded fourth place to Spurs in the last week. West Ham has escaped in grand style, picking up four wins in the last six matches; Wigan survives only from their success earlier in the season, and a slow start doomed Watford.

Lots of cup finals this mid-week, including the UEFA Cup final. The second draw of the new season has been made, for the UEFA Cup fair play places. Sweden topped the league, which was entirely made up of countries from the Baltic basin and north Alps, including England and Wales. They didn't win in the draw; Norway and Finland did. The sides gaining admission are provisionally named as Häcken (SE), Lillestrøm (NO), My-Pa 47 (FI), all depending on the issue of a UEFA license.
