This week's upsets: Charlton beat Newcastle 3:1 (30), and Middlesbrough downed Bolton 4:3 (33). The leaders won, the trailers lost, apart from Portsmouth, whose match was postponed.
No such trouble for Reading, who wrapped up promotion with, er, a 1:1 draw at Leicester. A week of upsets in Division II - Crewe beat Coventry 4:1, Watford lost to Millwall 2:0 (both 40-pointers), Wolves fell 3:1 to Sheffield Weds (39), Derby beat Palace 2:1 (38), and Burnley ended Norwich's play-off hopes 1:0 (37).
In Scotland, no proper upsets, though Inverness's 2:0 win at Hibs is worth noting.
More surprises in Spain: Seville - Valencia 1:0 (34); Villarreal - Betis 1:2 (34); Malaga - Barcelona 0:0 (23); Bilbao - Osasuna 1:0 (38); Cadiz - Athletico Madrid 1:1 (16). In France, it was Strasbourg - Lille 2:2 (14); in Germany, Stuttgart - Bayer Leverkusen 0:2 (39); and in Italy, Parma - Inter 1:0 (45).
Valencia and Southampton lost, but Inverness won, and it's +0.15 on the week-end, -3.7/30 this month.
Two bets this mid-week: in the European Cup QFs, we tip (4.55 / 3.30) Benfica to beat Barcelona; and Seville to lose at the hands of Zenit St Petersburg (5.00 / 3.50). Full rankings will emerge at some point on Friday.
